DIBS for Kids

DIBS for Kids is a teacher support initiative on a mission to prove Omaha as the first city in the nation where students of all income-levels are supported to read a book, at their reading level, for fun, every night.  DIBS stands for “Delivering Infinite Book Shelves,” and it is a classroom-based take-home book program.  By combining access to age-appropriate books with teacher and technology support, the program seek to provide a low-cost, home-based approach to dramatically improve literacy rates across the city of Omaha.  DIBS for Kids plans to utilize this OVG grant to support the development of technology that will give parents, educators and program staff access to more information about  participants’ reading levels and ultimately, get youth excited to read.
